Pirhuk specialises in adventurous backcountry skiing in Greenland. IFMGA mountain guide Matt Spenceley is based on the east coast and has spent many years skiing and climbing in these mountains, with a particular passion for exploratory skiing. Together with a small team of like-minded guides, we pride ourselves on the highest standard of professional guiding.

Steep ski guiding: Matt loves steep skiing, focussing on opening new lines in the mountains of East Greenland. There are many lines out there for suitably skilled bigger groups. On technical peaks and descents, Matt guides one or two skiers.
We are always keen to plan a good trip – our seasons fill up very early so do get in touch to discuss ideas!
Customised Trips and Expeditions
From our base in Greenland, we have a lot of experience in organising customised ski trips and expeditions, planning the objectives and details to suit the diverse needs of different teams. From professional skiers involved in filming to small groups looking to explore a remote mountain range, we can provide advice on objectives, logistics, equipment and guiding. A partnership of local hunters and an IFMGA mountain guide based in East Greenland, we provide truly professional guiding inspired by our passion for skiing in Greenland, combined with a lot of expertise in safely travelling around the area. We safely manage the complex risks of dealing with sea ice, polar bears and the sometimes unforgiving climate of Greenland.
Visiting Mountain Guides
For visiting mountain guides, Pirhuk can provide advice and assistance on accommodation, logistics and objectives as well as managing polar bear risk and sea ice travel. It’s possible to join one of our organised expeditions and trips with your guests or have one of our guides accompany your group to provide local knowledge on the mountains as well as taking care of bear and sea ice management plans. Please contact Matt to discuss further.
