Rich grew up in the British climbing heartland of Sheffield, a bike ride away from the gritstone edges and moorland of the Peak District.
After university, he went on to manage an alpine mountain holiday company in the Dolomites of Italy, a position that allowed for much time in the hills.
An old uni friend of Helen’s, a passion for backcountry skiing led Rich to visit East Greenland with us. Since that first trip, Rich has gone on to become a core part of Pirhuk, bringing a huge amount of expertise and enthusiasm to our small team, both in the organisation and guiding of our trips. Over the years, Rich has gone on to lead many of our dog sled and trekking expeditions into some of the wildest corners of East Greenland. With a lot of attention to detail and a big passion for guiding and exploring Greenland, Rich is a popular guide with team members and the folk around the village of Kulusuk.
