Mark joined the Army having read English Literature at Exeter and on exchange in Berkeley, California. His choice of regiment - the Gurkhas – led him to Nepal where he forged a strong link with most things Himalaya.
Mark returned to Nepal many times post-Army, working in earthquake response, rural development and as a trekking and photography guide. Closer to home, Mark has loved working summer seasons in Swiss, French, Italian, Austrian and Bavarian alps, guiding both trekking and running tours.
Mark now lives in the Lake District where he enjoys planting trees, running fells, cold water swims and strong, piping-hot, black coffee. He is also a medic in a Mountain Rescue Team and recently wrangled his first crag-fast sheep back to safety.
This is Mark’s first season in Greenland and he is super excited about the challenges and adventures that lie ahead.
