John Lyall

John is a highly experienced IFMGA mountain guide with a passion for wild places and first ascents.  He has a gift for passing on and sharing this huge body of knowledge to all his climbing partners, not least in his role as a trainer/assessor to aspiring mountain guides (Matt and David included).  In Greenland, he focuses on Pirhuk’s exploratory mountaineering expeditions and glacier traverses, returning to winter in his Scottish Highlands’ home - the Cairngorm National Park - where he has lived since leaving school.

Greenland provides the adventure, drama, wildlife and strong local culture which give all the things required for the life-enhancing experiences he seeks.
