The Green House Summary
The Green House is a traditional Greenlandic wooden cabin providing simple but warm & comfortable accommodation in the tiny Inuit community of Kulusuk, East Greenland. With views out over the icebergs of the Denmark Strait, the cabin offers 3 small twin rooms, a common area to relax & eat, a well equipped kitchen and a basic bathroom.
We run the Green House very much like an alpine hut with everyone helping out. Many of our guided trips and expeditions stay here before and after heading into the mountains. The cabin is also available for rent to independent groups. Like most of the village, the cabin doesn’t have plumbing – clean water is collected from the nearby pump. Showers can be taken in our main lodge.
Staying here offers a rare insight into life in what is one of the remotest settlements on earth.

Accessible from the Lodge...
We established the lodge in Kulusuk as it’s the perfect jumping-off point for trips & expeditions all over the east coast. In summer, when the fjords are open, sheltered routes lead directly into the massive inland mountain ranges without the need to traverse the outer open fjords. In the cold months, we have direct access to sea ice routes all over the region, without having to first travel far overland.
In the summer, we can trek, climb and kayak within minutes’ walk from the door and in the snowy months, snowmobile tow-in or dog sled to countless brilliant ski tours. Many of our guided trips are based out of lodge. Our home mountain Qualorujorneq, rising above the village, offers alpine climbing and ski mountaineering with far-reaching views out over the icebergs of the Denmark Strait. For independent groups & visitors, we’re always happy to help out with local info and suggestions.
