Ultra Photo Gallery 2.5

Travelling through East Greenland's deep frozen wilderness of islands, glaciers & frozen fjords, you will look into the skills involved in not only surviving, but  moving efficiently in this harsh environment.  Course content will focus on the essential skills involved in high latitude expeditions.  For those using the course as preparation for longer trips, either over Greenland's Inland Ice or on North or South Pole expeditions, the course will provide a foundation of skills and an opportunity to test and discuss equipment and techniques.  Please contact us to dicuss specific requirements - it may be that a customised trip is the best option.

We will look at the following:-

- Equipment use.  A look into the different systems available.  Practical techniques and care.

- Clothing systems.

- Travelling order.  Skiing technique, pacing and travelling systems (timing and day structure)

- Camping.  Storm procedures.  How to have a comfy night's sleep.  Cooking and tent routines.

- Terrain-specific points.  Sea ice and glacier.

- Navigation.  Use of GPS, compass, snow features, wind direction, sun.
