Greenland's environment is undoubtedly fragile. It's massively important to us that expeditions visiting the area take great care to minimise their impact. Sadly, some groups not associated with us have left alot more than just footprints.
We always follow the points below and strongly encourage other groups to do so as well:-
- Remove all non-organic litter with the group (NB. no burning)
- 'shitting in the woods'- if possible, remove a sod of turf and dig a shallow latrine. Burn all toilet paper. Close up after use. On glaciers, dig a deep (over 1m) pit and cover.
- Use the least affecting method of travel to get to your expedition area
- Take used batteries etc out of Greenland with you
